Diagnostic clues in a patient presenting with incapacitating arthralgias

Abstract

The classic presentation of multiple myeloma is bone pain, often involving the back and ribs. In the case described here, however, the patient had severe, incapacitating arthralgias. Dr Goodman and Dr Libanati detail how they arrived at the correct diagnosis.
