Newly diagnosed hepatitis C

Lack of symptoms doesn't mean lack of progression

, MD
Pages 95-101 | Published online: 30 Jun 2015

PREVIEW

Hepatitis C is a particularly insidious disease. Initial infection often goes unnoticed because symptoms, if there are any, are unremarkable and nonspecific. But over months or years, infection often progresses to chronic hepatitis. In fact, progression occurs in three fourths of patients, yet many of them remain unaware of their disease because of its asymptomatic nature. Dr Trivedi reviews the course, diagnosis, and management of hepatitis C, from transmission to long-term follow-up.
