Hip fracture in the elderly

An interdisciplinary team approach to rehabilitation

The incidence of hip fractures, particularly among the elderly, is on the rise. Prevention is, of course, the best treatment. If a fracture does occur, however, appropriate treatment and rehabilitation are key to getting patients back on their feet. Drs Ethans and MacKnight stress a team approach to reduce postoperative morbidity, speed recovery, and restore elderly patients to independence and full function as quickly as possible.
