Joint and soft-tissue injection

A useful adjuvant to systemic and local treatment

, MD
Pages 125-134 | Published online: 30 Jun 2015

PREVIEW

Although corticosteroid injection is only a temporary treatment measure, it can provide needed short- and long-term benefit in certain conditions. Pain and inflammation in joints, bursae, and tendons respond well to injection, and when appropriate systemic therapy is added, long-lasting remission may be achieved. Dr Genovese summarizes when and how to use steroid-injection therapy and what cautions to exercise to avoid complications.
