Lupus

Abstract

The immune system protects the body by making antibodies that fight bacteria, viruses, and other invaders. But in patients with lupus, the immune system cannot distinguish invaders from healthy tissue and doesn't get the message to shut down. In a sense, the body continues its protective measures, but against itself.
