All physicians, but particularly those who treat middle-aged and elderly patients in primary care or other general care settings, encounter the many facets of lumbar spinal stenosis. Therefore, an awareness of the signs and symptoms and of the treatment options, especially the conservative measures that benefit many patients, is important. In this article, Drs Nagler and Hausen review this type of stenosis and describe approaches to management.
