In the United States, about 50 to 60 species of spiders are known to bite humans. A few of these are capable of inflicting painful, necrotic wounds, resulting in systemic symptoms and occasionally death. Dr Koh discusses diagnosis and treatment of medically significant bites from common venomous spiders.
