Abstract

The rapidly evolving healthcare system in the United States is approaching a dramatic crossroads. The direction it takes will set the stage for future doctor-patient relationships and will determine the role and viability of medicine as a profession. As this scenario plays out, medical savings accounts (MSAs), backed by high-deductible health insurance, are essential to allow patients and providers to choose the best route to humane and cost-effective care.
