PREVIEW

A rousing game of football or a daily jog on a hard surface can, unfortunately, bring the pain of lower extremity compartment syndrome. Diagnosis is crucial: Chronic exertional compartment syndrome may prove a challenge to detect, and acute compartment syndrome may require immediate surgical intervention. Drs Swain and Ross discuss the causes of lower extremity compartment syndrome and compare the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of both the acute and chronic forms.
