PREVIEW

Results of thyroid function tests are often abnormal in patients who are acutely ill. Interpreting the tests and knowing what to do with the results when there is no other evidence of thyroid dysfunction can be a challenge. How do you know when the abnormalities should be corrected and when not? In this article, Drs Camacho and Dwarkanathan discuss types, causes, and clinical significance of thyroid hormone abnormalities in patients with sick euthyroid syndrome.
