Parkinson's disease—the shaking palsy

Underlying factors, diagnostic considerations, and clinical course

, MD & , DO
Pages 39-52 | Published online: 30 Jun 2015

PREVIEW

Because the initial manifestations of Parkinson's disease may suggest other conditions, such as arthritis or advancing age, early, accurate diagnosis may be difficult. In this article, Drs Conley and Kirchner delineate the three separate stages of this incurable illness and describe factors to be considered in differential diagnosis. An article by the same authors on medical and surgical treatment of Parkinson's disease will appear in an upcoming issue.
