Management of fever without source in young children, especially those between birth and 3 years of age, needs to be structured to minimize unfafvorable outcomes and to avoid undue pain to the child and inconvenience to the family from often unnecessary hospital admission. In this article, Dr Park provides practical recommendations for the care of such children and comments on differences between the approach in an emergency department and that in a physician's office.
