With the aging of the US population, physicians are increasingly faced with questions about patients' fitness to drive. In this article, Drs Kakaiya, Tisovec, and Fulkerson address the various considerations that are important in assessing and counseling patients—particularly the elderly and those with dementia—and their families regarding a patient's ability to drive safely.
