Kidneys bear a huge responsibility in the survival of the human body. They keep our internal environment in balance and play an essential role in the maintenance of normal homeostasis. It therefore comes as no surprise that chronic kidney disease (CKD)—and the resultant decline in kidney function—can seriously affect essentially every organ system.
