PREVIEW

The growing recognition that women experience depression more often and in different ways than men has led to new research about specific mood syndromes, such as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and postpartum depression (PPD). In addition, much attention has been paid to safe treatment of depression during pregnancy and while breast-feeding. In this article, Drs Young, Campbell, and Harper review some of the key issues in providing safe and effective treatment for women of reproductive age who present with depressive symptoms.
