Infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) can lead to chronic active hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver failure. However, it also is associated with a wide range of extrahepatic features, including renal disease. Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN), with or without cryoglobulinemia, is the most common renal lesion.
