Migraine is the headache most commonly encountered in primary care practice. In one US population survey,1 17.6% of women and 6% of men reported migraine. Specific, effective treatment options for migraine are increasingly available, helping to reinforce how important it is that this common and sometimes disabling condition be recognized by primary care physicians.
