This trial in patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled on metformin demonstrated the efficacy of adding linagliptin 5 mg once daily; this novel dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor significantly improved glycemic control without weight gain or increased risk of hypoglycemia.
