Geomorphological maps can be documents of restricted use due to the complexity of their content. The research project now presented proposes the geomorphological mapping of the area covered by six official topographic sheets at a scale of 1:50,000, located in the northeastern part of Santa Catarina State, southern Brazil. The mapping of the first sheet, Garuva, was based on the graphic representation of the relief structure, it's units and sub-units as polygons. Processes and landforms/types were represented as line and point symbols. The geologic and morphometric (slope) information were represented in individual smaller maps placed beside the main legend. The mapping was accomplished from a Landsat satellite image and aerial photographs at 1:60,000 scale. The relief structure is represented in three main color groups: gray for the plateau, violet for the escarpments and yellow/orange/brown for the plains. The proposed mapping presents geomorphological information in a simple and didactic way, in order to allow its use also by professionals not necessarily related to geosciences.
