Interview with Michael McAdams, President of the Advanced Biofuels Association

Abstract

Michael McAdams is President of the Advanced Biofuels Association (DC, USA), representing more than 40 advanced biofuels production and feedstock companies. He has more than 30 years of experience in government and public affairs, and the private sector. In the private sector, he spent more than 14 years working for BP (London, UK) as a major participant in the greening of the company, having been involved in their climate change efforts, clean fuel introductions and strategy for expansion in biofuels, solar and wind; in the public sector, he served as the Vice President of the eastern USA for government and public affairs, as well as Vice President of government affairs and the environment. He has testified numerous times before Congress and federal agencies, and in 2008 and 2012 was invited to and participated in the Clinton Global initiative as an energy advisor and expert in the area of biofuels. Michael McAdams speaks to Ruth Williamson, Commissioning Editor of Biofuels, about his career to date, the development of the Advanced Biofuels Association and future developments for the field of next-generation biofuels.
