Abstract

Fluorescence photomicrographs of K562 cells showing nuclei stained with Hoechst 33342. Control untreated K562 cells (Image 1) or cells treated with 2 μM (Image 2) of the histone deacetylase inhibitor, Trichostatin A for 24 hours, were stained with 10 μM Hoechst 33342 for 1 hour. Note the hallmarks of apoptosis - appearance of half-moon nuclei and apoptotic bodies (blebbing and nuclear fragmentation) in cells treated with Trichostatin A. x 20 magnification. El-Osta et al.
