Abstract
The CB&T Special Issue cover image depicts the primary lesion of a malignant invasive adeno-carcinoma of the colon (image courtesy of John Minarcik; http://www.tumorboard.com/).
It has become clear that novel molecular approaches are required for therapy to significantly impact cancer prognosis. Superimposed on the image is a dart-board representing treatments that are targeted directly at the tumor, while the stop sign and explosives represent hopefully cancer-specific therapies, i.e. more toxic to the cancer than normal tissues. This issue of Cancer Biology and Therapy provides a valuable collection of reviews that constitute some of the most promising laboratory-based strategies to combat neoplasia at its various weaknesses.
