Summary
We describe the calculation of the distribution of the sum of signed ranks and develop an exact recursive algorithm for the distribution as well as an approximation of the distribution using the normal. The results have applications to the non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test.

Brian Albright
Brian Albright ([email protected]) received a D.Sc. in systems science and mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis (2004) and has been teaching at Concordia University in Nebraska ever since. He is the author of the textbook Mathematical Modeling with Excel. In his spare time he enjoys flying radio-controlled airplanes and raising a 6-year old son and 4-year old daughter.
