We find the probability of winning a best-of-three racquetball match given the probabilities that each player wins a point while serving.

Tom Brown

Tom Brown ([email protected]) received a B.S. and M.S. from Illinois State University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of New Mexico. Tom teaches mathematics and computer science at Eastern New Mexico University and chairs the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Research interests include computer modeling of animal movement and applying game theory and statistics to games and sporting events.

Brian Pasko ([email protected]) received an A.A.S. from Milwaukee Area Technical College, a B.S. from Marquette and a M.S. and Ph.D. from Kansas State University. He is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Eastern New Mexico University. He uses mathematics to analyze sports and games and enjoys playing racquet sports.
