INTERPROVINCIAL WATER RESOURCE CONCERNS

Pages 33-39 | Published online: 23 Jan 2013

Abstract

The Master Agreement on Apportionment and the Prairie Provinces Water Board were established in 1969 to apportion the flows in rivers crossing provincial boundaries. The agreement, reached by Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, establishes procedures for settling any disputes concerning interjurisdictional flows and actively promotes the study of the water resources.
