MARITIME ELECTRICAL ENERGY NEEDS AND INTERPROVINCIAL PLANNING

Abstract

Some of the highlights of electric power development in the Maritime Provinces are discussed, with reference to history, current and future problems, undertakings and opportunities.An outlook on future electrical energy requirements of the region is presented, together with an examination of supply alternatives such as Gull Island, the Dickey-Lincoln project in northern Maine, tidal, nuclear and coal sources.The philosophy and objectives of a proposed Maritime Energy Corporation are also outlined.

On discute de certains faits saillants du développement du pouvoir électrique dans les provinces Maritimes relativement à l’histoire, aux problèmes actuels et futurs, aux entreprises et aux opportunités.On présente un aperçu des besoins énergétiques électriques d’avenir pour la région ainsi qu’un examen des sources d’approvisionnement alternatives telles que l’Ile Gull, le projet Dickey-Lincoln dans le nord du Maine ainsi que des sources mamémotrices, nucléaires et houillères.On décrit la philosophie et les objectifs d’une Société énergétique des Maritimes proposée.
