DICKSON DAM, ALBERTA - THE 20 MW POWER FACILITY

Pages 178-196 | Published online: 23 Jan 2013

Abstract

The regulating structures of the Red Beer River at Dickson Dam, Alberta are to be the site of special power system facilities. The economics of the situation and the design adopted will permit Alberta Environment to construct a 2 unit, 20 MW hydroelectric power plant. The two diversion tunnels provided for construction of the dam will be used as power tunnels. The future power plant will produce a small base load and is primarily an energy producer.
