ABSTRACT
In this paper, an optimisation approach is presented to solve combined economic and emission dispatch problem, a multi-objective optimisation problem, by using artificial immune system (AIS). The AIS algorithm with clonal selection mechanism is implemented to obtain optimal economic and emission dispatch considering the losses. This multi-objective problem has been solved by two approaches namely price penalty factor and fuzzy decision making approach. The effectiveness of the presented formulations has been tested on three and six generating unit systems. Results obtained from the above mentioned methods are compared with different optimisation techniques and are found satisfactory.
