The Proper Status and Functions of Librarians in Academic Institutions

G. G. Allen Geoffrey Allen has been Principal Librarian at the Western Australian Institute of Technology since that institution was established in 1967. His particular achievements there have been the establishment of an extensive reader education programme in association with academic departments, the development of automation of most of the library's procedures, and the encouragement of a staff development programme with a strong research focus.
