Experiential Learning and the Implications for the Preparation of Docents

Robin S. Grenier Robin S. Grenier, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Adult Learning in the Department of Educational Leadership, at the University of Connecticut. She is also a fellow of Teachers for a New Era (TNE), a Carnegie Corporation initiative designed to improve teacher quality by reforming outstanding teacher preparation programs. Robin is a graduate of the University of Georgia and has worked as a high school English teacher, a teacher on special assignment at the Florida Holocaust Museum, and a training and educational consultant for school districts and museums. Her research interests include: expertise development, informal and experiential learning museums as places of learning and qualitative inquiry.

Barry Sheckley Barry Sheckley has devoted his career to understanding the multi faceted, experience-based process by which adults learn. He is an endowed professor at the University of Connecticut in the Department of Educational Leadership and has received a number of awards, including The Morris T. Keeton Award from CAEL, an award for Excellence in Teaching from the UConn Alumni Association, and distinguished research awards from the Association of Continuing Higher Education and the American Society for Training and Development.
