The Abject Self: Self-States of Relentless Despair

Kathleen Adams Ph.D. Specializing in group and individual therapy with primitive states, has been a clinical psychologist in private practice for over thirty years. She has served as director of an outpatient mental health children’s service, chief psychologist of an inpatient children’s hospital, and adjunct faculty to Seton Psychiatric and Austin State Hospital adult and child residency programs. Currently, she is in private practice. In 2006 she received the Anne Alonso Award for Excellence in the Contribution to the Literature in Psychodynamic Group Theory for her article, “Falling Forever: The Price of Chronic Shock,” in the International Journal of Group Psychotherapy.Correspondence[email protected]
