ABSTRACT

The genus Bolbapium Boucomont 1910 comprises 22 species distributed throughout the Neotropical region. Here we present a taxonomic revision of Bolbapium with redescription of the following species: B. baeri (Boucomont, 1902), B. borgmeieri Martínez, 1976, B. caesum (Klug, 1843), B. howdeni Martínez, 1976, B. lucidulum (Klug, 1843), B. minutum (Luederwaldt, 1931), B. modestum (Castelnau, 1840), B. paralucidulum Ide and Martínez, 1993, B. parcepunctatum (Arrow, 1913), B. quadrispinosum (Luederwaldt, 1931), B. quinquestriatum (Boucomont, 1932), B. striatopunctatum (Castelnau, 1840), and B. sulcifrons Ide and Martínez, 1993. We also transferred Bolboceras modestum to Bolbapium and removed the name Bolbapium sculpturatum (Mannerheim 1829) from the genus; and we present nine new species: B. boillyi Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. dutraorum Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. furtadoi Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. limeirai Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. luederwaldti Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. matheusi Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. sampaioorum Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov., B. santanaorum Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov. and B. sergioidei Carvalho and Vaz-de-Mello sp. nov. Illustrations, distribution maps and designation of type material are given. A new synonymy is here confirmed and proposed: Bolbapium minutum Luederwaldt, 1931 = Bolbapium bigibbosum syn. nov. Luederwaldt, 1931.
