A new species of the Phanaeus endymion species group (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae), with comments on ecology and distribution

Summary

Phanaeus edmondsi n. sp. is described from the tropical forest of La Sierra Madre del Sur, estado de Oaxaca, Mexico. The new species belongs to the P. endymion species group. Distributional and ecological information of the new and allied species is included. A modification to update the identification key for related species is presented.

Résumé

Une nouvelle espèce du groupe de Phanaeus endymion (Coleoptera : Scarabaeidae : Scarabaeinae), et commentaires sur son écologie et sa répartition. Phanaeus edmondsi n. sp. est décrit de la forêt tropicale de la Sierra Madre del Sur, État d’Oaxaca, au Mexique. Cette nouvelle espèce appartient au groupe d’espèces de P. endymion. Des informations sur la répartition et l’écologie de cette nouvelle espèce et des espèces proches sont présentées. La clé d’identification est modifiée pour inclure cette nouvelle espèce.
