Margarita Vargas

Margarita Vargas is Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures and in Global Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University at Buffalo SUNY. Her major publications include Latin American Women Dramatists: Theater, Texts, and Theories, a collection of essays that she co-edited with Catherine Larson; Women Writing Women: An Anthology of Spanish‑American Theater of the 1980s, co-translated with Teresa Cajíao Salas; and a translation of Juan García Ponce’s play Collected Works published by The Mercurian in 2010. She has also published articles on Mexican film as well as Spanish-American narrative and theater. Her manuscript entitled “From Body to Voice and Back: Feminine Identity in Twentieth-Century Spanish-American Theater” is under review by LATR Books.
