Abstract

In order to develop masks, wipes and other products with antibacterial and health care functions, wormwood extract/viscose spunlaced nonwoven fabric samples were prepared by changing the roll pressure and the concentration of waterborne polyurethane. Properties of the samples were characterized by SEM, FTIR, XPS, thickness gauge, gas permeability meter and bending stiffness meter. The results showed that the wormwood extract/viscose spunlaced nonwoven material had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, and the antibacterial effect was weakened with the increase of the roll pressure. When the roll pressure was 0.05 MPa, the diameter of the inhibition zone was the largest, which reached 1.678 cm, and the antibacterial effect was not affected by the concentration of waterborne polyurethane. When the polyurethane concentration was 100 g/L, the maximum thickness of 0.713 mm was achieved at the roll pressure of 0.2 MPa, and the gas permeability of the material increased up to 1738.2 mm/s with the rise of the roll pressure. The fracture strength and bending stiffness of the wormwood extract/viscose spunlaced nonwoven fabrics were greater in the longitudinal direction than in the transverse direction. The fracture strength and bending stiffness decreased with the increase of the roll pressure, and increased first and then decreased with the increase of the binder concentration.
