Abstract

Let R be a noncommutative prime ring of characteristic different from 2, Qr be the right Martindale quotient ring of R and C=Z(Qr) be the extended centroid of R. Suppose that f(x1,,xn) is a noncentral multilinear polynomial over C and 0F, G are two generalized skew-derivations of R associated to the same automorphism α. If F(u2)=F(u)G(u) for all uf(R), then one of the following holds:

  1. There exist pQr and λC such that F(x)=λα(x) and G(x)=α(x) for all xR.

  2. There exists aQr such that F(x) = ax for all xR and G = Id, the identity map.

  3. There exist a,bQr such that F(x) = ax and G(x) = xb for all xR, with a(b1)=0 and f(x1,,xn)2 is central valued on R.
