Abstract

Three new Cd(II) coordination polymers, [Cd(μ-dmg)(μ-bib)]n (1), {[Cd(μ-dmg)(μ-pbix)1.5]⋅H2O}n (2) and [Cd2(μ-dmg)2(μ-ptmbix)2]n (3) (H2dmg = 2,2-dimethylglutaric acid, bib = 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane, pbix = 1,4-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene and ptmbix = 1,1’-((2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-phenylene)bis(methylene)) bis(1H-imidazole)), were synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, thermal analyses (TG and DTG) of the complexes have been carried out. The single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that 1 displays a 2-D structure with sql/Shubnikov tetragonal plane net topology. Complex 2 exhibits a twofold interpenetrating 3-D + 3-D→3-D framework with bnn hexagonal BN topology while 3 isa 3-D coordination polymer with dia topology with the effect of sterically hindered auxiliary ligand.
