Laura Pettibone Wright
LAURA PETTIBONE WRIGHT is an independent scholar pursuing in-depth research into the life and career of choreographer Erick Hawkins. She has presented at national dance conferences and has published essays and book reviews. A Hawkins répétiteur, she restages Hawkins’ works for professional companies and university students as well as edited excerpts for primary- and secondary-aged students. Her Hawkins-based technique classes reflect her ongoing examination of Hawkins’ principles of movement, aesthetic concepts, and philosophic foundations. A soloist with Hawkins’s company, Ms. Pettibone Wright toured nationally and internationally for over a decade and was critically acclaimed for her musicality and poetic elegance. She received her MA in Dance Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College, where she was awarded the Artist/Scholar Fellowship, and a BA in Music and Dance at Beloit College, WI.
