Abstract

This study aimed to explore the experiences of art engagement with older adults experiencing mild cognitive impairment. Data was collected from participants (n = 8) involved in a group art engagement program. A thematic approach was used for data analysis. Researcher field notes were used to further support and enrich the data. Three themes emerged: socialization, session enjoyment, and mental stimulation. Participants identified that the program held meaning and benefitted them. This study supports the use of group art engagement for older adults experiencing mild cognitive impairment for socialization, enjoyment and mental stimulation and may improve overall quality of life.
