ABSTRACT

In this work, the microstructure and deformation mechanism, based on uniaxial tensile tests of 2507 super duplex stainless steel, is investigated using OM, XRD, EBSD, TEM and micro-Vickers. The experimental results indicate that the as-received sheet is not sensitive to strain rate at room temperature. The ferrite phase is softer than austenite phase during the tensile deformation process. In the initial stage of deformation, the strain is mainly accommodated in the ferrite phase. As the deformation increases, the strain continuously transmits to the austenite phase and the two phases coordinately deform. The strain is unevenly distributed in the two phases, and the strain is concentrated at the phase boundary.
