JORDAN: CULTURAL HERITAGE SUCCESS STORY OF THE MIDDLE EAST?

Abstract

This article critically assesses Jordan’s cultural heritage infrastructure, which is generally viewed as being one of the most stable in the Middle East due to the country’s political stability. It draws attention to the simultaneous looting which is endemic throughout the country, and proposes new ways forward which can achieve the dual means of protecting the nation’s cultural heritage and solving some of the longstanding economic issues which have plagued the country.
