Beyond Wires and Lights in a Box: Online Physical Education is Necessary to Enhance Program Impact

Pages 3-5 | Published online: 13 Mar 2023

Abstract

The purpose of this Viewpoint is to push readers toward seeing OLPE as an essential ally instead of an existential enemy by outlining ways OLPE addresses barriers to quality PE programming and explaining how it can be used as a catalyst for program enhancement and advocacy, so students have opportunities to experience the full potential of their PE programs.

Notes

1 In this editorial, online physical education is used an umbrella term to refer to use of the internet to deliver instruction during face-to-face classes (i.e., Papastergiou, Citation2009), as part of a blended online and face-to-face flipped learning approach (i.e., Østerlie, Killian, et al., Citation2023) or through fully online distance learning (i.e., Killian et al., Citation2019b).
