Vulva Education Through Fiber Arts: The +cunt Project

Abstract

+cunt is a fiber arts project intended to support the exploration of a person’s relationship with their vulva. Makers create a palm sized soft-sculpture vulva adorned to their preferences. The project aims to address strained relationships with this part of the body due to culturally embedded stigma, trauma, and ignorance. From personal art practice to its most recent function as an art-based intervention in individual or group therapy settings, +cunt is contextualized within sexual violence, gender, and sex education.
