Abstract
Isaac Avilucea covers Philadelphia for Axios. He twice received the Courage Under Fire Award from the New Jersey chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for his work in his previous role as reporter for the Trentonian. Avilucea was first honored in 2017 for successfully fighting a prior restraint order from the state attorney general that censored his reporting on a five-year-old boy who brought drugs to school. He was recognized again in 2019 after the chief of staff for the Trenton mayor named Avilucea as a suspect in an alleged office break-in that turned out to be a custodial error.
