Antonio Benítez-Rojo
Antonio Benítez-Rojo (1931-2005), the Cuban novelist, essayist, and writer of short stories, was the author of Sea of Lentils (1979), The Repeating Island: The Caribbean and the Postmodern Perspective (1989), and Woman in Battle Dress (2001), among other books. In 1975, he became the director of the publishing house Casa de las Américas, but left Cuba in 1980 and settled in the United States. He was a professor of Spanish at Amherst College.
