A new genus and species of Lebiini (Coleoptera: Carabidae) from late Eocene Rovno amber

ABSTRACT

The first ground beetle, Antephilorhizus pripiatiensis gen. et sp. nov., is described from late Eocene Rovno amber. The new genus Antephilorhizus is placed within the subtribe Dromiusina Bonelli, 1810 and similar to the extant Philorhizus Hope, but it differs by the weakly obliquely truncate apex of the elytra, unidentate mentum tooth, four setae on the apical margin of the labrum, tarsomere V of the hind tarsus is shorter than tarsomere I, and a series of umbilicate setae from 4 + 1 + 4 + 1.
