Abstract
With this article, I provide my perspective on the authors experiences and lessons learned in dealing with practical issues from data acquisition to data management and finally to data analytics.

Pat Whitcomb
Pat Whitcomb is the founding principal of Stat-Ease. Before starting Stat-Ease, he worked as a chemical engineer, quality assurance manager, and plant manager. Pat coauthored Design-Ease® software, an easy-to-use program for design of two-level and general factorial experiments and Design-Expert® software, an advanced user's program for response surface, mixture, and combined designs. For more than four decades, he has consulted and shared his expertise on the application of design of experiments (DOE) and other statistical methods.
Pat has also co-authored the books DOE Simplified: Practical Tools for Effective Experimentation, 3rd Edition, RSM Simplified: Optimizing Processes Using Response Surface Methods for Design of Experiments, 2nd Edition, and Formulation Simplified: Finding the Sweet Spot through Design and Analysis of Experiments with Mixtures. In addition, he has written many articles on design of experiments, which have been published in journals and other periodicals.
