Abstract
Ray A. Waller had a distinguished career in statistical education, government statistics, and statistical leadership. He and his wife Carolyn established the American Statistical Association’s Waller Education Award in 2002 and the Waller Distinguished Teaching Career Award in 2014, recognizing excellence in teaching introductory statistics. He is the recipient of the 2004 American Statistical Association’s Founders Award. This interview with his son Lance was recorded on September 13, 2019. Ray Waller passed away peacefully at his home on December 28, 2022.

Lance A. Waller
Lance A. Waller is a professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. He received his B.S. in mathematics from New Mexico State University (1986) and his PhD in operations research from Cornell University (1991). He is a member of the National Academy of Science Board on Mathematical Science and Analytics and serves as co-chair of the Committee on Applied and Theoretical Statistics. He is the son of Ray Waller.
