Abstract

Steroidal saponins were the main active constituents of the traditional medicinal herb Asparagus cochinchinensis. A phytochemical investigation of A. cochinchinensis roots led to the isolation of nine new steroidal glycosides (1–9) and seven known analogues (1016). Their structures were established by spectroscopic analyses as well as necessary chemical evidence.
