Abstract
Sequential treatment of silica gel with tetrachlorosilane and cone-shaped tetraphosphorylated tetrahydroxy(thia)calixarenes yielded porous organo-inorganic sorbents, the surface of which is covered by spatially ordered phosphonate, phosphinate and phosphine oxide groups capable of co-operative binding of metal cations. Sorption of europium(III) by the modified silica gels was studied.
